well i've been playing gw since it got out, and i've had the acount binded to NCsoft for a while and never been hacked. i might be lucky or im just carefull.
the major hack occurred more to fansites databases hacked more than anything else.
i'm not saying that i trust the NCsoft master acount, but i trust more in the info from arena net than a post in foruns from some dud that got hacked and "discovered" a way to enter as another user.
about the topic
i agree that it shouldn't be needed for the acounts to be binded to NCsoft master acount, but it might be need to associate the GW acount to the GW2.
but i would prefer a system like logging into gw and in acount option and getting some kind of 128bit encrypted unique key that i would need to insert in my gw2 acount.
its more secure that having to log in a website and binding acounts, but it might be complicated for most people.
also, if arenanet decides implement the use of autenticators, they should make a system that would verify if the real owner of the acount is the one doing the binding, i've seen to many threads on wow players finding thier acounts hacked and binded to autenticators ( trust in ArenaNET > trust in NCsoft > trust Blizzard)
